Family-Friendly Destinations to Visit in Arizona

If you're looking for some fun places to take the kids this weekend, there are plenty of exciting options that can provide both entertainment and educational experiences. Here are a few family-friendly spots where you're sure to have fun, explore, and enjoy a good time with the family.


Arizona Science Center

This hands-on museum is located in downtown Phoenix and includes plenty of fun and interesting activities for kids to enjoy. Tickets can be purchased online or at the entrance of the museum. Be sure to check out the Arizona Science Center website to view the Parents' Guide and information about current and upcoming exhibitions & events.


Children's Museum of Phoenix

The Children's Museum of Phoenix is an interactive space designed for children ranging from growing babies to curious 10 years old. There's plenty of room for your little ones to explore, learn, and interact with the many play activities offered throughout three floors of fun. Check out their website to view the monthly calendar of activities along with hours of operation. The museum is located on the southeast corner of 7th Street and Van Buren.

 

Musical Instrument Museum

The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) showcases thousands of instruments and other musical objects with origins from around the world. It is one of the largest museums of its kind. Open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased online or at the entrance. Be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to explore. There’s also a section of the museum where you can play some of the instruments. Be sure to hit the giant gong on your way out.

 

Butterfly Wonderland

Enjoy a tropical rainforest-like experience at the Butterfly Wonderland, which is America's largest indoor butterfly conservatory. Learn about the butterflies' migration or observe live chrysalises as they emerge into butterflies. Open 365 days a year from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with last entry permitted at 4:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased online or at the entrance. Note that strollers are not allowed in the conservatory but can be used throughout the building. In addition, the facility is fully wheelchair accessible.


Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park

Litchfield Park, AZ 85340

Enjoy a safari-like adventure at The Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium, located in Litchfield Park, about 30 miles outside of Phoenix. It's home to Arizona’s largest collection of exotic and endangered animals. The zoo also features a safari train, a log flume ride, a family roller coaster, and numerous other rides and attractions. Zoo hours change with the seasons, and tickets are available for purchase both online and at the gate.


Whether your family enjoys educational experiences, outdoor activities, or a leisurely day soaking up the Arizona sun, there are numerous options to choose from.
